Visual Age CD Assignment

When I was working with the Visual Age CD’s I started to realize that it would have been a lot more helpful if we had looked at these at the beginning of the semester before we started any of our assignments.

The elements of:
Text
Purpose
Element
Context
Audience
Color
Contrast
Emphasis
Framing
Alignment
Proximity
Organization
Sequence
Are all very helpful when thinking back on our profiles, brochures, and flyers. These areas are ones that we worked on within each of the past assignments.

The major points that I got out of the readings were:
1. use these elements to direct the reader
2. each of the elements can be used in a distinct way to bring the reader’s eye to the point were you want the most attention
3. by using a combination of the elements you can intensify the effect

I feel that the exercises at the end of each section on the CD helped to fully explain the section; it was also a good way of testing your knowledge in each of the sections.

My question is: what is the maximum number of these elements you can use to successful direct your reader’s attention?
